Description:
Boo is not available for adoption, she is a permanent foster with Precious Paws Rescue due to medical conditions.
Lots of you have seen Boo featured on CMT's Pick A Puppy tv show that began airing in January and has since been on as a rerun many times! Boo was the star of the show in our eyes (of course!) and she received a LOT of interest as a result of the show which was wonderful! Boo even had a solid application on her that had been approved and was all good to go! Since Boo had been with us almost a year at the time, we took her in for her annual exam with bloodwork and vaccines. Unfortunately the bloodwork showed that Boo has mild kidney disease and she would have to go on medication for life.
Of course the family that had applied for her did not bargain for this news and understandably decided not to proceed with Boo's adoption. So Boo has been back looking for a home ever since. She is now on a low protein diet prescribed through our vet. She also gets an oil on her food twice a day and she takes 1/2 Fortekor pill per day as well. All in all, her medication and food would cost approx. $200 per month and of course this news has not made it easy for Boo to find a home.
Our "Boo Bear" has been in fostercare in my home since April 2010 - a little over a year now! And because she is so settled in our home and we know her medical and behavioural needs so well - we have made the decision to make Boo a permanent foster with Precious Paws Rescue.
This doesn't happen often - in fact she will be the only permanent foster with Precious Paws currently, but we feel that this is the best decision for Boo. After many months of adjustment, we saw a big change in Boo when she finally became comfortable in our home and now she fits in so well we can't imagine life without her! Because we want to ensure that she can continue receiving the best veterinary care possible and so that we don't upset her life anymore than it already has been in the past - Boo will live out her days as one of the family (as she has been since she came to us!).
Boo is one incredible dog and we are so thankful that she came to Precious Paws over a year ago. While we would have loved for her to find an adoptive home before now, we truly think this is where Boo belongs.
