Setting your Location

The location of a member is used to determine if a lost or found pet notification will be emailed out.  If the member does not set their location, then the system cannot determine how close or far away the lost pet is, so a notification email is not sent.

When setting your personal location, we want to protect your privacy. You have control over who sees your pin, but, as a precaution, DONOT place your location pin, directly on your house. Set it to the closest major intersection near your home, or somewhere else like town hall. It is meant to be your approximate location.

If you have set up your business or other organization and you have a real physical address, then place your location pin on the real map location. So people know exactly where your business is and can find you.

From the home page one of the map layers you can view is the members layer. The map displays the approximate location of members and the zoom ability of the map is restricted to further protect privacy.

The map view showing the member concentration around the world gives the program relevance. When someone posts their pet, they know how many people they are directly reaching. Hopefully, people will be inspired to grow the number of members in their area.
